Elegance and competition are one team
With the Audi Sport quattro concept prototype, Audi uses this big car and retakes the ideas that appear for the first time in the study of the Audi quattro concept three years ago. The coupé mixes de DNA of the UR-quattro with elegance. It looks powerful and awe-inspiring with a strained bodywork on 21-inch wheels. The overhangs are short and the proportions are sportily balanced.
As with the Audi Sport quattro, the Audi Sport quattro concept has been a conceived under the spirit of the competition. None of its design solutions are an end in themselves, but all of them has a technical function and many are a homage to the quattro@ models from the early decade of 1980, as the rear C-shaped uprights and the double rectangular headlamps, equipped with the innovative Matrix LEC technology, which will be available on the next Audi A8.
The interior of the Audi Sport quattro concept is focused on the driver. The steering-wheel, the digital dashboard and the projected information on screen are in his direct field of vision. A line under the windshield surrounds driver and passenger and integrates several ergonomic functions, such as the opening of the doors.
The Audi’s lightweight construction is reflected not only in the design of the selected materials. Seen from above, the skinny dashboard reflects a wing of an airplane. The interior support structure is a carbon fiber panel that also serves as an storage compartment in the side doors. Features like this give visibility to the lightweight construction.
